-Henry Ford created the 40 hour work week as he payed $5 an hour for eight hours, this made him the richest man in the world after selling his Model T 

-Pre pandemic, all companies adhered to the 40 hour work week even though our technical infustructure was evolving

-Benefits of office / 40 hour week: face to face interaction for managers, communication richness for staff 

-Limits of 40 hour week: Not as effective in a knowledge economy- commute, so many people unemployed/ business fail.


The present 

-a new normal - hybrid work

-some companies back to office, some ditch the office altogether
